EMI & IBAN

Treasury rails that stay open.

Build EMI relationships across multiple providers with dedicated IBANs, virtual account structures, and SEPA access. When one EMI restricts your account, others keep flowing.

Consulting only: AtlasPayment does not process payments, hold funds, issue accounts, or guarantee provider approval.

Treasury rails that stay open.
THE CHALLENGE

Treasury concentration risk

High-risk operators depend on a single EMI or bank account until it gets frozen — then scramble to find alternatives while customers can't deposit or withdraw. Traditional banks avoid high-risk businesses entirely, and most EMIs that accept you will eventually restrict you too.

  • ISSUE-001

Single EMI dependency means one compliance review can freeze all treasury operations

  • ISSUE-002

Traditional banking access is nearly impossible for high-risk business models

  • ISSUE-003

Shared pooled IBANs create reconciliation nightmares and compliance exposure

  • ISSUE-004

No SEPA access forces expensive wire transfers and slower settlement

  • ISSUE-005

Poor treasury management means cash trapped across multiple accounts with no visibility

OUR APPROACH

Diversified banking rails

We build EMI infrastructure as a system, not a single account. Multiple EMI relationships across different regulatory jurisdictions, dedicated IBANs for clean reconciliation, and automated treasury flows that route around restrictions.

EMI Diversification

EMI Diversification

Active relationships with 3-5 EMIs across EU, UK, and offshore jurisdictions so no single closure stops operations.

Dedicated IBANs

Dedicated IBANs

Named IBANs in your company name for professional client-facing payments and clean audit trails.

Virtual Account Structures

Virtual Account Structures

vIBAN hierarchies for customer segregation, automated reconciliation, and sub-account management.

SEPA & SWIFT Access

SEPA & SWIFT Access

Full SEPA Instant and SEPA Credit access plus SWIFT corridors for non-EUR treasury requirements.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know about our treasury rails that stay open services.

EMIs (Electronic Money Institutions) are licensed to issue e-money and provide payment services but cannot lend or take deposits in the traditional banking sense. For high-risk operators, EMIs are often more accessible than banks because they're built for payment processing rather than relationship banking. However, EMIs vary significantly in risk appetite and compliance approach.
Dedicated IBANs are unique account numbers in your company name — incoming payments show your business as the beneficiary. Pooled IBANs use a shared account number with reference codes to identify you. Dedicated IBANs are essential for B2B credibility and significantly reduce compliance friction during audits.
Timeline varies by EMI and complexity. Well-documented applications with clean entity structures typically complete in 2-4 weeks. Complex structures or business models requiring enhanced due diligence can take 6-8 weeks. We run multiple applications in parallel to minimize total timeline.
Diversification across regulatory regimes is key. We typically recommend at least one EU-licensed EMI (for SEPA and EU customer access), one UK EMI (post-Brexit operational continuity), and one offshore EMI (Gibraltar, Mauritius, or similar) as a regulatory hedge. The specific mix depends on your customer geography.
With proper infrastructure, you route traffic to backup EMIs while resolving the freeze. Most restrictions are temporary compliance holds that resolve in 2-4 weeks with proper documentation. We help prepare response packages and, if necessary, negotiate account closure terms while maintaining operations on other rails.
